| Sitting on five small peg feet "burned" dark brown in the firing, the curled leaf with a beautiful guan grayish green glaze that has striations of sky blue, the foliated edges also "burned" dark brown in the firing, all intended to emulating its Song counterpart. 18th C. 4 in long, 1 1/4 in high.
Provenance: By repute from the Robert Chang collection.
The unctuous grayish green glaze that flows over the body of the piece with its blue striations and brown wash reflect the efforts that the 18th C potters made to emulate many of the precious Song glazes. |
