| Rare and fine, the decoration in deep underglaze blue of two pheonix birds, one on each side, their long tails wrapping around the exterior of the bowl, the birds surrounded by blooming flowers and pomegranates, their leaves and tendrils, the decoration stopping at a double blue ring in underglaze blue around the rim of the everted lip of the bowl, the interior glazed white, a band of fretwork around the foot, a six character Daoguang mark in underglaze blue and of the period on the base. 10 3/8 in long, 4 in. high.

Fine mark and period Daoguang bowls of this shape and decoration are rare and we have been unable to find another example published.
