Finely painted with butterlies and birds amidst flowering roses and other blooms, the scalloped edge in gilded orange with the gild around the rim, the pedestal foot well shaped. 18th/19th C. 10 1/2 in. long.

Provenance: Scranton, Pennsylvania estate

This is a fine example of an early platter used for serving shrimp and highly regarded during the period in which it was made,
