Provenance: Dade County, Florida Collection

Kinrande decorated porcelain was highly prized by the Japanese during the 16th C and produced during the Wanli/Chongzhen periods for export to Japan. The underglaze blue, the quality of the underglaze blue decoration, the character of the porcelain, its glaze, deep foot, base and four character mark which dates to the Wanli/Chongzhen period indicate a Ming manufacture. It appears that at some point in the late 19th/early 20th C the bowl was decorated on the exterior in a kinrande style either in Japan or for the Japanese market.
