| Large Chinese export platter in famille rose, its center a handled porcelain vase filled with blooming flowers, the vase surrounded by branches of blooms, a border of deep blue drops followed near the rim with borders of blue dots, a band of gold and a deep blue glazed wide band filled with gold stars, the exterior unglazed. 18th C. 17 in. diam.

While the blue glaze filled with gold stars as a band at the rim indicates that it was made for the American market, the interior painting in famille rose of the porcelain vase with its rich and radiant blooms reflects some of the best painting of the Qianlong period in export wares. |
