Description:
Finely painted on a high quality porcelain base with lotus blooms and tendrils circulating over the cylindrical vase in a coral ground together with bats and Chinese characters representing long life, the neck with a border of ruyi and the base with a border of medallions, the mouth rim with gilt remaining, all on a white glaze, the base glazed white with a four character Tongzhi mark in overglaze red and of the period. 11 1/2 in. high.
Condition: No chips, cracks, hairlines or other damages. Drilled as a lamp and Tongzhi mark readable but effaced.
Provenance: Acquired in Westport, Connecticut in 1991.
This finely decorated cylindrical vase was made to be a hat stand and is in a small group of such well painted pieces.
