Phoenix and Lotus Bowl Daoguang Mark and Period
Octagonal shaped large pedestal bowl decorated with alternating phoenix and lotus flowers amidst scrolling bands of lotus tendrils and leaves in multi-colored enamels, a band of ruyi at the mouth and swirls of lotus tendrils at the pedestal foot, the interior glazed turquoise, the base with a six character Daoguang mark in overglaze red and of the period. Daoguang. 9 1/8 in. diam.

Condition: Perfect. No chips, cracks, hairlines or other damages.

Provenance: Westchester, New York estate

This thickly potted pedestal bowl was made late into the Daoguang period and the style later emulated during the Tongzhi and Guangxu eras.
