| Rising up with a slight concave from its foot the brushpot is decorated in underglaze blue with a knarled pine tree that springs from rocks, bushes and lingzhi growing around it, a poem on the reverse, the glaze heavily crackled, the base recessed and unmarked. Kangxi. 4 3/4 in. high. Carved wooden base included.
Condition: Perfect. No cracks, hairlines, or other damages. Small chip to footrim as shown in photographs.

The decoration and potting of this brushpot suggest an early Kangxi dating. Brushpots from this period are now rare to the US market. |
