With two dragons chasing a flaming pearl on the exterior, on a white cloisonne ground, the shoulders with a band of plantain leaves in green enamel rising up to the splayed neck with its yellow full lotus flower and tendrils in green enamels to form the everted mouth rim, a band of ruyi below it, the pedestal foot with florals, the base unmarked. Qing. 10 in. high.
Condition: Perfect. No chips, dents, cracks or other damages, with one rough spot on the surface as shown on the 5th photograph.
Provenance: Baltimore, Maryland estate.
The Tariff Act of 1888 required all Chinese cloisonne vases to bear a "China" stamp that was either stamp onto the base metal or written in red enamel on the base. There is no such mark on this vase, which together with the decoration and form suggest a manufacture prior to 1888.
