Intricately painted with florals in multicolors, their leaves in green shades all on blue ground, the base rising up in the form of a trumpet to the everted mouth rims bordered with ruyi, the bases unmarked. Late Qing/early 20th C. 8 in. high.
Condition: Perfect. No cracks, chips, hairlines or other damages.
Provenance: Brimfield, Massachusetts collection
Under the Tariff Act of 1888 all imported Chinese cloisonne had to bear a "China" mark that was either carved into the base or painted in an over glaze. The Tarriff Act was repealed in 1923. As such it is possible the vases were imported prior to 1888 since they do not have the characteristics of later made pieces.
